About US
The Veteran Egress Society has been dedicated to serving veterans since February 2023. Our journey began as a pilot project aimed at helping veterans struggling with mental health issues by getting them out of their rut and into new environments.
Our first expedition took us to Creston, BC, where we enjoyed a nice lunch, toured the Lower Kootenay Cultural Building, and took a walk along the Kootenay River. We ended the day with a relaxing evening of pizza and poker. The positive feedback from this initial trip encouraged us to expand our efforts.
Today,
Egress supports a growing number of local veterans, dedicating 4-6 hours a day to their needs. Our services include:
- Referrals to service providers
- Meet ups with local and across Canada Veterans
- Morale building
- Fishing trips
- Assistance with VA paperwork
- Medication reimbursement
- Grocery runs and delivery
- Transportation to clinics and appointments
- Dog walks in the forest
- Buddy checks
- 24-hour open call direct line
- Curling team activities
- Lunch and coffee dates
- Help with small home projects
The Future
Expanding Our Reach and Outreach
Egress is committed to reaching out to veterans across Canada. We organize meet-ups in various locations, helping veterans reconnect with lost battle buddies and expand their support networks. By branching out across provinces, we aim to create a nationwide community of veterans supporting each other.
Future Endeavors
We plan to leverage social media to review hotels and restaurants, ensuring our veterans have access to the best accommodations and dining experiences during their travels. Additionally, we strive to increase public awareness and understanding of military service dogs, showcasing the incredible support these animals provide to our veterans.
SFU Renovo Partnership
Veteran Egress is proud to support Simon Fraser University’s Renovo program by helping recruit Canadian veterans for their free 7-week career and entrepreneurship training.
This partnership helps connect veterans with a high-quality transition program designed by and for military members. If you’re interested in exploring your next mission, you can learn more and submit your interest through the participation form below.
